1.
The typography between the two groups both differ. The Gallows theme is more Gothic and contains a more Victorian style, this therefore makes it appear more bold and more serious whereas HADOUKEN! has a more light hearted style of typography..it also appears to contain more Graffiti and more colouring within their font. This makes seem more light hearted in comparison to Gallows and therefore targets a younger audience. Both of the logos contains the same color pallete however Hadouken!'s logos is mainly white which represents a more fun and bright lifestyle whereas Gallows's font is much more punchy and direct suggesting more serious and dark themes.
2. Hadouken seem to have similar clothing to Gallows in the aspect that they both sell Hoodies and T Shirts. However the colour scheme in both of these differ. Gallows's Merchandise consists mainly of darker colours and more bold deep set colours, this therefore suggests that Gallows have a more serious and Gothic theme also the band sells badges which suggest that they want to convey a message to their audience. This style differs to Hadouken who sell clothes of brighter colour scheme plus they sell bags and laces and other accessories which suggests that they are not as serious as Gallows and their audience is of a younger age in comparison to Gallows.
3. HADOUKEN! increase their appeal to their niche audience by making most of their clothes bright and colourful this is effective has it makes them stand out from other mainstream bands..also the graffiti style relates to the rebellious young culture also by Hadouken selling bags and accessories it suggests that they could either carry this merchandise to school or other places which relates to the uses and gratification theory has it assists social relationships. Gallows on the other hand, target an older audience and this is done successfully by their use of material.for example Frank Carter designs all the clothing which establishes the connection with the fans and therefore increases the appeal.
4.
One Product which I would reccomend for Gallows is probably some footwear..this would be effective as every person wears shoes of somewort and also it would be a good way to promote and advertise the band. In addtion some sort of Hat should be created for the same reason as it would help to attract the audience and increase appeal. The second product would most likely be a design for a Guitar..this could be effective has you could play their music as if you're actually in the band.

Gallows. Task 1 and 2
Who are Gallows Target Audience?
Gallows target audience is quite diverse ranging from the young to the old.
Gallows seem to target the younger audience, because of their rebellious outline that the Band consists off. For example a lot of their clothing contains T-shirts and Hoodies which appeal more to the younger audience has opposed to other bands which target a more older audience. However one could say that Gallows try to appeal to all ages; they're website contains the quote ""Most people just walk around with their eyes shut. We want people to open their eyes and get sick." -Frank Carter". From this comment it could be said that Gallows try to appeal to all Citizens of Britain furthermore one could say that they target a Patriotic audience because of the Giant flag that is the background for their web-page. Also the typograpghy suggests that that it is quite varied, beacuse of the gothic victorian theme. Relating back to the fact that they have a young audience, there is an example of this in their video Abandon Ship.. where there seems to be a lot dancing, moshing and feeling the beat. This could be associated with the younger culture has they have a much more liver lifestyle compared to the older generation. Also their website seems to be more advanced and laid out neatly which appeals to the younger target audience, has they use the internet more..also there are a few links which relate to other videos and other types of media which relates to the younger audience. Finally Gallows dont seem to distinguish a particular gender and this evident in their videos, has it seems to be quite evenly proportioned between the two sexists which suggests they base their music on equality.
HOW COULD YOU APPLY
USES & GRATIFICATIONS
WITH GALLOWS FANS?
The uses and gratifications theory can be applied to the appeal towards Gallows Fans. Gallows has a website which is frequently updated this signifies the need to be constantly informed, Gallows provides this need by updating several types of media which (again) targets the younger audience this therefore fufils the entertainment need. Also the need for security and be provided by Gallows because they have a particular ideology behind their lyrics which in a allows the audience to relate to the Band and have a better relationship and therefore this benefits the Band because they have a more accurate perception of what to produce(music wise). Another gratification is for society it can help to link the different social classes together by both groups having similar interests which can promote equality one of Gallows aims (in terms of music).
Music videos are essential when trying to promote an Artist. First of all it is quite a cheap and cost-effective way of creating a break-through as an Artist. You can create the simplest of music videos and it can get you known easily such as Beyonces-Single Ladies which was just a single shot of some girls dancing or it could be like Slipknots- Duality which was like a house party of music, in other words it can be an easy way to get yourself known as an Artist..also you can sell you're personal identity which allows you to be unique to other artists for example Avenged Seven-fold have a unique symbol of bats wing and a skull and other bands like Gallows have a sort of Tattoo Gothic theme. This is important has it allows you to illustrate you're self has an Artist and it also allows your music to get known in the form of "word of mouth". its also a free exhibition tool has these videos can be accessed on the internet or the television which allows quick access at just the flick of a button, plus because its free its the cheapest way of advertising in the music industry.
They are 3 types of Music Videos. The 3 types of music videos are Conceptual, Narrative and Performance.First of all A performance video usually consists of clips from a concert or sometimes the backstage. This can be quite an effective style of music videoing because you can hail the audience and you can make them feel as if they are actually in the music video thus creating a sense of verisimilitude and realism, it can also make the audience feel a little more connected with the band, for example Paramore(Band) showing backstage clips of them joking around is alot more personalized then an actual concert it also gives them a personal identity. The second type is a Narrative this is used usually to convey a a more personal approach to the band or Artist. It is usually played with slower music in order to convey more emotions. In terms of editing their is is usually much more shot selections in order to illustrate the environment and the society. Also the shot duration is alot longer in order to amplify the feelings. The Third type is Conceptual. This is usually piece of illustration which either reflects the lyrics or has no apparent meaning this is often used to contradict the lyrics or either to provide a juxtoposition of images to amplify the meaning. Gorillaz, Queens of the Stone Age(one song) are fond of this as it helps to reflects the meanings behind the song.
Branding is a significant part marketization because its important that you make yourself unique and different in order to create a buzz around your self also its important when selling an Artist or band because its what distinguishes you from other music figures. But its even more important when targeting a niche audience. Because you have to create a personal identity that is representative of that audience plus you have to make sure that you are even more visually appealing in order to appeal to those niche audiences. This usually consists of clothing or merchandise for Example Slipknot's main identity is associated with masks which makes them distinguishable from the other rock genres.
Gallows is a particular identification of the niche sub-culture. One example of this is the many details that are included within the Website. The Typography is quite niche as the Victorian style is inly favoured by a small minority. Also it is obvious to see that Tattoos is an illustration of bands meanings. But this is emphasized towards the audience by the many tattoos that Frank Carter has, this increased the appeal as it amplifies the symbol of the band. Also all of the Art is created by Frank himself and this increases the appeal because he makes the design seem more personalized and this engages the audience.
